Each July, the Syracuse, New York, Fairgrounds are turned into a one big car lovers’ paradise.
Syracuse’s Ol’ Skool Roundup is a highlight for everyone and the Back-Yard Build Off is one of the favorite parts of the Roundup. This marked the fourth year for this event, in which builders come up with their own special creations and then the fans vote to determine the winner. This year’s four cool rides (Cory Chappell’s 1955 Chevy pick-up, Arthur Pfund 1948 Chevy truck, Kevin Kimmerly’s 1950 Dodge Coronet, and Corey Kolz’s 1946 Dodge truck) kept fans busy checking out all the cool details. Also under the Roundup’s roof, one could take in a crazy pin-up contest, great live music, and even valve cover racing. Once again Sparky came up with some out-of-this-world trophies, which were awarded over the span of the show.
Artie’s Party, marked it’s tenth year at the Syracuse Nationals, once again bringing together some of the country’s finest pinstripers and artists. All of these talented folks come to Syracuse on their own time and money to produce fine artwork, which is then auctioned off, with all of the proceeds donated to Ronald McDonald House. This year, over $70,000 went to this very worthy charity.
Walking around the fairgrounds, fans could check out acres and acres of cars, displays, a huge swap meet, and car for sale area. Over 12,000 cars were on the grounds in all. Check it out this coming July. Info is at www.rightcoastcars.com
