"I knew with this car I didn't want a '51 clip on it, because I wanted to keep it at or as close as the '50 model as possible. I think we succeeded in doing that."
Robert MacFarlane came up with the actual design of the car. The MacFarlanes knew they wanted a build that would be eye-catching, and very distinctive looking, but kept as close as a '60s style ride as possible. They elected to chop it 4.5 inches before dropping in a Ford 302 with a C-4 tranny for performance.
There are numerous things on this car that make it unique but the grille with the eyeball sticking out gives this car a look all its own. Also, the primer yellow paint was something MacFarlane and painter Davey Vawdrey just ran into.
"We were thinking about Corvette yellow as a possibility, but we started tinkering with the primer, and came up with this crazy yellow," MacFarlane said. "We liked how it looked and stuck with the concept."
Meanwhile the eyeball, which was airbrushed by Vraines son, Adam is what probably stands out the most on the car.
"It's definitely one-a-kind. That's for sure," MacFarlane said."
